The Oceanside Union Free School District on May 7 approved personnel recommendations that included the appointment of Anna Policastro as executive director of technology and Devin Gallagher as the district’s new high school library media specialist.
Superintendent Dr. Harrington introduced the hires, noting Policastro’s prior service in Great Neck and Glen Cove public schools and saying the district was “very, very, very happy to welcome you officially, Anna.” The district stated that Devin Gallagher will start as high school library media specialist in September.
The board also accepted retirements announced at the meeting. Dr. Harrington identified Dean Martellucci (early learning center) and Rob Pittman (longtime teacher and union leader) as staff who will retire in the coming months; Janet Marks, who supports athletics, was also announced as retiring but will remain through the summer to assist with the athletic schedule.
In public remarks during the meeting, Rob Pittman thanked colleagues, presented a $250 donation from the union on behalf of several staff groups, and praised the working relationship between teachers and administration.
The board approved several categories of personnel recommendations by votes recorded during the meeting (professional personnel, civil service personnel, hourly employee recommendations and DACA employee recommendations). The superintendent said official appointments and retirements will be processed through Human Resources.
