Marina pedestals purchase and dock stabilization approved; pedestal delivery timeline uncertain

The commission approved two related marina items Thursday: the purchase of 97 marina shore‑power pedestals and the award of the installation contract after Harbor staff and advisors recommended a NEMA‑rated pedestal model.

Harbour Master Laurie Ferguson told the commission she had not yet confirmed a delivery schedule with the manufacturer but that purchasing staff reported an estimated 8–10 week lead time. Ferguson said she will attempt to take delivery in staged lots so partial power can be restored: “If I can get 12 pedestals, I can put 24 boats into the marina,” she said.

Contractors expect to stabilize remaining docks in mid‑ to late‑June. Ferguson said she has a contractor penciled in for dock stabilization and expects the stabilization work to take three to four days. The marina fire‑suppression vendor will repair certain systems as Dock C work proceeds; Laurie said Dock A repair cannot be completed until pilings are raised and dock stabilization is finished.

Commissioners pressed staff for an update on schedule and on ensuring boats that have been without shore power do not suffer battery damage if power restoration is delayed. Ferguson said she would contact the pedestal manufacturer the next day to obtain shipping details and would update the commission in a formal meeting.

The commission approved the pedestal purchase and the installation award unanimously; staff said it will notify slip holders when agreements and timelines are finalized and will continue updates through the Marine Advisory Committee and the marina staff.
