Council Approves iWorx Software to Streamline Nuisance, Permit and Code Enforcement Workflows

Milford City Council on May 8 authorized a service agreement with I Work Systems Inc. (iWorx) to digitize code enforcement, nuisance case letters and permit workflows.
City Manager Gunderson told council iWorx would let staff generate populated letters, accept online permit submissions and payments, and improve tracking for nuisance enforcement. Gunderson said the vendor has been in business 26 years and historically has not raised contract prices for existing customers. He also said the company waived a typical $6,700 setup fee for the city and the annual fee under the ordinance was listed as $10,000.
Council approved the ordinance to enter the agreement. Gunderson suggested staff also examine updating the municipal property maintenance code (International Property Maintenance Code) to provide clearer enforcement tools that would work with the new software.
The ordinance was passed by roll call; staff will proceed with contract execution and implementation planning for online permits and nuisance tracking.
