City staff said the parcel will give the city contiguous land to its south substation and contains utility poles that the city expects will simplify pole maintenance. The staff description estimated the parcel at "about 20 foot wide by maybe 300 foot long," and staff noted the city likely already has easements over the strip but that owning the land will aid maintenance.
Ordinance No. 25‑O‑3292 was read on first reading and the roll call recorded affirmative votes; the city will receive the property without cost and staff asked council to authorize acceptance so the land transfer can proceed through the Land Reutilization Corporation process. No final conveyance occurred at the May 6 meeting; the ordinance was presented and advanced on first reading.
