County reviews one bid for in‑house EMT/AEMT classes; staff to place contract on Tuesday agenda

Burke County finance committee members reviewed a single bid to provide in‑house EMT and advanced EMT (AEMT) training at the county Emergency Management Agency (EMA) headquarters.
An EMA staff member told the committee the vendor quoted $18,000 for an AEMT class sized for 15 students (or $1,200 per student if 10 or more students enroll) and $15,000 for an EMT class (or $1,000 per student). Staff said the company would send an instructor to the EMA headquarters three days a week, include books and a class polo shirt, and use an online system for clinical evaluations.
Committee members compared the bid to the county’s recent expenses for sending four students to Augusta Technical College — about $6,600 for that group — and said they would place the vendor contract on Tuesday’s agenda for approval so the board can formally award or reject it.
