Park West developer seeks PUD rezoning for 160 townhomes; parcel includes reserved fire station lot

At the May 7 study session the applicant for the Park West project (a west-side Calumet Avenue site) presented a request to reclassify a parcel from C-2 to a Planned Unit Development to allow a proposed 160-unit townhome development and an included lot intended for a future fire station.
The applicant, Mr. Kope, said the project site sits just south of Providence Bank and will include a mix of townhome buildings. He told the commission that the plan includes “a fully developed lot for a fire station for the town to utilize at their discretion.”
Since the project's earlier study session, Kope said he and the developer have coordinated with adjacent landowner/developer Brad Lambert and town public works on water-main extensions and looping that will be necessary to serve the development. He said he has compiled required proofs of publication and adjacent-owner notices and expected to make formal submittals to planning staff this week.
A commissioner present reported minor corrections submitted to the PUD text and that updated documents had already been included in the commission packet. No formal vote or final action occurred; the applicant was told to return in two weeks and bring required confirmation of mailed notices and green cards for proof of notice.
The commission's discussion focused on PUD technical edits, confirmation of utility coordination, and the process steps for public notice and scheduling a public hearing. No decision on rezoning was made at the study session.
