Grace Church corrects address; plans for ministry center move forward with engineering responses pending

At a May 7 study session, an applicant for a proposed ministry center for Grace Church corrected the record for the property address and provided a status update on plat and engineering reviews.

Town staff said the correct address for the ministry center property is 13809 West 109th Avenue; the previously listed mailing address (12632 Wicker Avenue) belongs to the property owners. The applicant, Mr. Huss, said the town's engineer provided minor primary plat comments on March 25 and that the engineering set was received by the town on April 17.

“We're going to be returning responses to both those comments the next week or two,” Mr. Huss said, adding his surveying director has already reviewed the materials. Remaining tasks include initiating a driveway permit with the Lake County Highway Department and coordinating wetland permits for a proposed water main extension under a ditch or creek at the north end of the property.

Mr. Huss said he hopes to return to the commission in two weeks to request permission to advertise the primary plat, with a public hearing anticipated in June and final approval requested in July, contingent on resolving outstanding comments.

Town staff noted that a police department comment related to site plan circulation — a recommendation to provide a left-turn lane or similar feature at the property’s 109th Avenue access — will be shared with the applicant and coordinated with Lake County Highway Department and town public works as the site plan is developed.

No formal action was taken; the commission will continue review as the applicant responds to engineering and agency comments.
