Senator Pless introduced Senate Concurrent Resolution 9, calling it "a concurrent resolution to create a task force that will focus on increasing engagement of the fathers in the lives of their children." He said it was the first time the Senate had taken a step to do "policy based work around increasing fatherhood engagement" and that he was "very excited" to author the resolution with several coauthors.
The resolution was adopted by a recorded vote after the machines were opened; the clerk announced "31 yays and 0 nays. Resolution has been adopted." Senators noted the task force would work through committee and return recommendations to the Legislature.
