Council approves roof-material change for Futures Recovery and Healthcare site plan modification

The Village of Tequesta council on May 8 approved a site plan modification for 701 Old Dixie Highway — the Futures Recovery and Healthcare facility — authorizing a change in roof material and color after a unanimous recommendation from the Planning & Zoning Board.
Meg Bridal, the village site planner, said the request was limited to exterior aesthetics and did not change the property’s use, building square footage or parking. The proposed change replaces an existing barrel-tile roof with a seamless metal roof in a tropical-patina color; Bridal said the site’s dense, mature landscaping limits public views of roof elevations.
Bridal noted the Planning & Zoning Board unanimously found the proposed material and color complied with Section 22-82 aesthetic standards and recommended approval. Council members said the color and material were compatible with neighborhood character and longevity concerns; one council member observed a lighter/tropical hue can reduce heat absorption compared with darker roofing.
The council approved the site plan modification by voice vote.
