A vendor representative from Rittal came onsite to assess options and proposed fabricating recessed expansion pieces to increase depth; staff said the minimum manufacturer order typically is for more expansion pieces than the county needs and they are pursuing a waiver to produce only the three required units.
The county expects the vendor’s expansion pieces to take about 10 weeks to manufacture and ship. Staff said some interim work (fire suppression, air conditioning, and cabling) can continue while waiting for the expansion parts, but until the racks have the required depth IT cannot complete all equipment moves; staff warned tight door clearances would cause airflow and heating issues if racks were filled without expansion.
