The St. Charles CUSD 303 Board of Education voted to enter closed session at 5:33 p.m. Thursday to consider appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employees and to hear complaints involving employees, independent contractors, volunteers and legal counsel, the meeting chair said.
The special meeting was called to order at about 5:31 p.m.; Ms. Marcyan took roll and the chair noted that Ms. Bell was absent and expected to arrive shortly. The meeting included no citizen comments and a brief recognition of Tammy Marsan for Administrative Professionals Day before the board moved to close session.
The chair asked for a motion “to adjourn to close session for the purpose of the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees, specific individuals who serve as an independent contractor in a park, recreational or educational setting or specific volunteers of the public body or legal counsel for the public body including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee, a specific individual who serves as an independent contractor in a park, recreational, or educational setting, or a volunteer of the public body, or against legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity,” and a board member moved. The motion was seconded by Mr. McNally, and the board took a roll-call vote.
On the roll call the board recorded the following responses: Ms. Faircrave — yes; Mr. Kuchert — yes; Mr. Lentz — yes; Ms. McCabe — yes; Mr. McNally — yes; Mr. Lackner — yes. Ms. Bell was recorded as absent. The chair announced, “Yes. We are moved to close session at 05:33PM.”
No further public discussion or decisions on substantive personnel or legal matters were disclosed at the meeting. The board did not state any schedule for returning to open session or releasing additional public information about the matters to be discussed in closed session.
