Committee approves H and H proposal to rebuild baseball field and install synthetic turf

The committee voted to approve a construction quote from H and H for the district baseball field project, authorizing the firm to proceed with reconstruction, subsurface drainage and turf installation.
Facilities staff said H and H’s phase‑2 quote was about $1.4 million; another firm, Rettler, bid at roughly $1.8 million. The committee chair moved to approve the H and H quote and a second was recorded; the committee voice vote was taken and the motion carried.
Staff noted next steps include subsurface soil borings scheduled the following week. The contract includes a specific contingency (identified in the packet as contract item 17) that makes the agreement null and void if soil borings determine the site is insufficient for a synthetic turf field. Staff also described a construction schedule intended to place turf on the field in late September or October and identified a target date after the local Legion baseball season (around July 19) to begin heavier construction.
No additional requirements were added to the motion. Committee members reiterated that the project team would confirm soil conditions and coordinate timing so play schedules are respected.
