Concord City Council on Thursday authorized the city manager to sign a work authorization not to exceed $99,916.72 for design services for a remote car rental facility at Concord Regional Airport.
Will Putt, a staff member presenting the item, said the airport has outgrown its current rental-car operations and that the new facility will be funded from rental car facility fees rather than the general fund or bond proceeds. The contract is with Talbert, Bryant & Ellington, an engineering/consulting firm that has completed work at the airport.
Council moved, seconded and voted by hand to approve the authorization. Staff said the authorization covers design services only; future construction costs will be returned to council for approval and will be funded from the rental car facility fee account.
The authorization clears the way for detailed design and permitting work to advance the project to bid and later construction stages.
