Baldwin students honored with regional, state and national awards at board meeting

The district also recognized AP Scholars (including with distinction and with honors), recipients of AP Seminar and Research certificates, and 18 students who earned the AP Capstone Diploma.
The Director of Fine and Performing Arts announced two All‑State musicians; the athletic director and coaches recognized sectional and state qualifiers and teams, including girls varsity basketball as New York State champions and other teams earning Nassau County honors. Career and technical and academy awards were presented as well: a student app earned a Congressional App Challenge district recognition, a virtual enterprise team advanced in a national business-plan competition, DECA students placed at states, and New Media Academy students placed in a Young Filmmakers competition.
Board members and school leaders repeatedly praised students’ academic rigor, community service and extracurricular leadership. The superintendent invited attendees to a reception after the ceremony and encouraged families to celebrate the students’ accomplishments.
No formal board business was required for the recognitions; they were presented as part of the meeting’s program of awards and acknowledgements.
