Board members described the plan as a 40‑lot campground that will provide a facility for recreational vehicle visitors to the region. Member Rosenbaum, who chaired the zoning discussion in committee, said Peoria County lacks a high-quality campground and that the proposed site would "bring a lot to our area of tax dollars, more people coming to visit." Roberta English of Wildlife Prairie Park, present as the petitioner, told the board she was "really excited" and supportive of the project.
The county’s zoning packet cited the Unified Development Ordinance provisions that allow recreational vehicle parks in A‑2 agricultural districts when conditions in section 7.1 are met. The board voted to approve the special-use permit; the roll call recorded 15 ayes.
Staff and the petitioner said the campground is intended to attract tourists, provide camping amenities and complement Park activities. The project will follow the county’s special-use conditions and any developer agreements required by planning staff.
