Tenants press Westmount staff on sprinklers, pest control, dumpsters and building repairs

Residents at a Westmount-managed property pressed staff during the public-comment portion of the meeting for updates on maintenance and safety work, including sprinkler inspections, pest control, dumpster removal and several building repairs.
Westmount staff told residents that a sprinkler-related inspection was tentatively scheduled for April 21 and that extermination work was set for May 8 and May 9. “I have April 21 for this MJ inspections, and then I also have extermination coming in on May 8 and May 9,” said Amy, a Westmount staff member.
The meeting also covered a transition in dumpster service. Chandrida, a Westmount staff member, said the property has a new vendor, Eastern Waste, and that Oak Ridge had taken old dumpsters off site. “We have a new vendor for our garbage, which is Eastern Waste. They have their dumpsters here, and Oak Ridge has now picked up their, dumpsters,” Chandrida said.
Staff reported ongoing work on dryer vents and sliding doors. Technicians are ordering parts for dryer-vent repairs and are completing a multi-phase inspection and repair plan. Chandrida said four sliding doors in the North Building are sticking and appear to have shifted about a quarter-inch; staff are investigating whether the cause is installation, contractor error or another factor and said they will notify Andersen (a contractor) to inspect. “It rolls and then it gets stuck and doesn't move. And as you said, it looks like, it has shifted a quarter of an inch,” Chandrida said of the sliders.
The property’s package-concierge system is now wired and operational in the South Building after Khamsin Electric completed wiring, Chandrida said; staff plan a tutorial and written instructions for residents. Huntington Power completed a level-1 generator service on both North and South generators and will provide a detailed report next week, Chandrida added.
Security-camera coverage was discussed; staff said the property has roughly 63 cameras and a “butterfly” notification system that texts and emails staff when residents use the community entry system.
Residents raised a transient voltage/sparking event near Building 6; staff said the surge project is in the files but has not been recently pursued and that the sparking reported by a tenant was tied to a transformer elsewhere in town and did not cause damage on the property.
Staff said elevators are operating normally. Several repairs remain in progress and staff indicated they will coordinate contractor visits and resident notices before work starts.
