Committee approves $196,990 revision to add pavers around Soldiers and Sailors Monument, raises project GMP

The Peoria County Infrastructure Committee voted to revise the courthouse plaza contract to include alternate No. 3, which replaces pavers around the Soldiers and Sailors Monument, adding $196,990 to the project price and raising the guaranteed maximum price (GMP) to $6,756,719.

Kyle, a county staff presenter, told the committee the alternate had been discussed at the committee's last meeting and that including it now would avoid returning later for a change order. "This came to you at your last infrastructure meeting. It did not include alternate number 3, which is the replacement of the pavers around the Soldiers And Sailors Monument," Kyle said, describing staff's intent to include the alternate in the revision.

Committee members had no further questions and the chair called the vote. "Ayes have it," the chair stated after the roll call, approving the revision.

The committee packet and staff presentation show the $196,990 added for alternate No. 3 and the revised GMP figure; committee members approved the revision to allow the contractor to proceed with the expanded scope without delaying related plaza work. No public comment was offered before adjournment.

Staff indicated the revision was intended to expedite the project by folding the alternate into the existing contract rather than issuing a later change order. The committee did not discuss funding sources or additional contract conditions during the vote; those details, if needed, will be handled through the project's standard administration channels.

The county will proceed with the expanded plaza work including the Soldiers and Sailors Monument paver replacement under the new GMP.
