The Board of Selectmen unanimously approved hiring Amy Lahaney as the town’s new director of health, with a start date of June 9, 2025.
Human resources staff said Lahaney was selected from a pool of 22 applicants and three finalists. Lahaney currently serves as director of health in Monroe (since December 2022) and previously worked in Bridgeport and Fairfield. She holds a master’s in public health and several professional certifications, including registered sanitarian, subsurface sewage system certifications, lead risk assessor and certified food service inspector.
Staff said Lahaney understands the town’s municipal systems (including Munis) and will serve after completing a one‑month notice period to her current employer. Interim department coverage and internal staff were praised for bridging the gap while searches were underway.
Board action: motion to hire Lahaney beginning June 9 passed unanimously.
