Police staff described the weapons as a more modern caliber with updated sights and optics that will require at least two days of training per officer. Staff also said the town will not be invoiced until after July 1 and the purchase will be charged to the FY26 budget.
Town finance staff told the board that purchase orders cannot be executed until July 1 under fiscal year controls. The board added conditional language to the motion making the FY26 allocation explicit and noting the purchase is contingent on being able to issue the purchase order early; board and staff said they would work out the timing to avoid delivery delays.
Board action: motion to approve the request to enter into a contract with Jerrick Brothers Inc in the amount of $45,800.55, allocated to FY26 and contingent on procurement timing, passed unanimously.
