Members noted the district’s position relative to neighboring systems, with one member saying the district appears to be among the few in the area not cutting staff. Presenters attributed that outcome to intentional planning and pursuit of supplemental funding opportunities.
A motion to recommend the FY26 budget was made and seconded. The roll call recorded Miss Hurst yes, Miss Gresham yes and Miss Monroe Naylor yes; the subcommittee recorded the matter as passed and forwarded the budget recommendation to the full school committee for final action.
District staff said the budget reflects priorities for students and staff and includes initiatives to support proficiency and professional development; presenters did not identify specific line-item cuts or program eliminations during the subcommittee discussion.
