Houston County approves $37,900 contract with Revise for ADA-compliant website redesign

Houston County commissioners voted to accept a low quote from Revise to redesign the county website, update content for Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance, and provide hosting and maintenance.
County staff said the county's current in-house WordPress site relies on scanned PDFs and plugins that are not fully accessible to screen readers and that a redesign will require a project of several months to a year to remediate documents and navigation. Staff presented two vendor options; Revise was significantly less expensive than CivicPlus and the county received a five-year, interest-free payment plan that spreads initial design costs over that period.
The contract was described in phases: an initial design and build followed by ongoing maintenance. Staff cited an annual maintenance fee in the range of about $3,600'$4,100 and said the county currently spends roughly $2,500 a year on hosting and plugins. The target go-live date for the new site was described as the end of the calendar year.
Commissioners approved the contract by voice vote and directed staff to identify capital or reserve funding to cover the first-year unbudgeted cost and to proceed with implementation. Staff said departments will be asked to help keep their content current using the new content-management system.
