The Madison County School Board approved multiple year-end budget amendments to align grant records and close out fiscal accounts, district staff told trustees during the meeting.
Board member Jason Compton told the board the amendments, which correct accounting codes and reconcile the district's ePlan and Munis systems, will not draw on the uncommitted fund balance. "None of them are drawing on fund balance," Compton said while outlining the items.
The board approved an amendment tied to the School Improvement Grant (call center 6190) totaling $823,820.62, with a credit of $801,420 returned to a committed fund balance for reallocation in FY26, according to Compton. Other amendments included small alignment transfers for state Pre-K and SIG 2 grants, and a public school security grant for $607,194.87 that corrected the revenue code.
A large amendment listed in the discussion was described as an ISM grant closeout producing a credit of $11,427,227.35 to committed fund balance. Additional noted amendments included a line-item transfer in physical services for $4,600, Transportation adjustments of $140,007.43, a Carl Perkins alignment of $1,000, the Resilient Schools Community grant closeout for $13.10, a TAG alignment for $7,749, and an IDAB closeout for $764,434.35.
Compton said the total dollars referenced in several amendments would return to committed cost centers rather than to the district's uncommitted fund balance and that those funds could be available for the same grants or programs in FY26. The board voted to approve the listed amendments and send them to the county for closeout.
The motion to approve the year-end amendments passed by voice vote. No board member recorded a roll-call tally in the meeting transcript.
