At the start of the meeting the Wilbur Center Board of Education voted to go into closed session to address subjects exempt from public discussion. The board said the closed session topics were personnel matters and attorney–client advice.
"In compliance with the sunshine law, the board must go to closed session in order to discuss subjects exempted from the public portion of our meeting," said Mr. Della Pietro. He added that "any information regarding the closed session discussion will be released to the public when the reasons for discussing these matters in closed session no longer exist." A motion to enter closed session was made by Mr. Della Pietro, seconded by Mr. Treewasser, and the board retired to closed session.
After the closed-session period the board reconvened for its public meeting and completed its agenda. No substantive details of the closed-session discussion were disclosed during the public session.
