Miami Beach launches six-month Operation Clean Water push for Parkview Canal; UV pilot scoped

The Land Use and Sustainability Committee on May 8 reviewed Operation Clean Water actions aimed at improving water quality in the Parkview Canal and North Beach basin.

The committee heard that city crews have doubled planned stormwater cleanings, that dye testing and infrastructure inspections were performed at Biscayne Beach Elementary, and that a UV-disinfection pilot scope is being drafted for up to $10,000 in initial work. Cindy Pracht, deputy resilience officer, said the administration expects to launch a cleanliness index on June 1 and that public-works and sanitation staff have increased shoreline and street cleaning.
