Staff said the project team budgeted $165,000 for playground purchase and site work; the playground and safety surfacing option recommended by the commission was presented with a price of $154,009.38 and was procured using HGAC cooperative contract pricing.
Council members asked about accessibility surfacing and restroom accommodations. Staff said the chosen surfacing will be wood chips (deemed to meet ADA accessibility requirements for the installation) and that interim upgraded portable restrooms or trailers would be used the first season while permanent facilities are completed. The park and rec commission recommended the purchase, and the council approved the procurement through the HGAC contract by roll call.
