Oak Creek signs onto Zone E emergency preparedness coordinator MOU with neighboring health departments

The Oak Creek Common Council on May 6 approved a memorandum of understanding to participate in a shared Zone E Community Emergency Preparedness Coordinator position with the health departments of South Milwaukee and St. Francis.
Darcy DuBois, Oak Creek Health Officer, explained the position has been shared for four years and is being reconfigured and absorbed into South Milwaukee’s staff structure. Oak Creek will support 0.1 full‑time equivalent of that position and contribute less than $14,000 per year from the city’s emergency preparedness grant funds.
Council members asked whether the additional duties were an add‑on to an existing full‑time staff person; DuBois confirmed the coordinator role will be added to a full‑time nurse position in South Milwaukee, which will take on coordination of zone preparedness activities. The council adopted the resolution (Res. No. 12577-0506725) by roll call vote.
