Reclamation Church seeks waiver from sidewalk requirement; council to consider contribution to sidewalk fund

Dan Grayford, representing the applicant, told council the church is essentially the only frontage user on that stretch of Saint Martin—s Drive and requested relief from the requirement to construct the sidewalk now. Grayford said the church is prepared to make a contribution to Monroeville—s sidewalk fund in lieu of building the approximately 300-foot sidewalk segment.
Why it matters: under borough ordinance, site development typically requires construction of sidewalks along frontage; developers sometimes seek waivers and instead pay into a municipal fund that finances future sidewalk projects where they are deemed most needed.
Staff noted the contribution would be deposited in the sidewalk fund and that the borough maintains a list of eligible sidewalks that can be built with fund resources. Council did not vote at the May 6 agenda-setting meeting; the waiver request and any required resolution will be considered during the May 13 regular meeting.
