Blair County commissioners ratify warrants, approve letter supporting regional EDA update; one abstention

The Blair County Board of Commissioners on May 8 ratified eight warrants and approved a package of routine financial items, including a $962,345.82 warrant dated April 11, 2025, budget transfers for county vehicle maintenance, and a letter of support for a regional Economic Development Administration (EDA) submission.

Staff read the consent items into the record, describing them as “Resolution 2 20 two-twenty 25, ratification of the 8 warrants that are listed,” and listing a $163.98 budget transfer for county vehicle maintenance and a $10,399.20 budget item related to the P Corp Loss Prevention Grant Program. The package also included a ratified letter from the Blair County Board of Commissioners to Susan Grama, regional director of the Economic Development Administration, supporting the Southern Alleghenies Planning and Development Commission’s comprehensive economic development strategy annual update due June 30, 2025.

A motion to approve the consent agenda passed after a second. Commissioner Peter said he would abstain from the vote on payments to Hollidaysburg Borough and to Thomas and Gander Gendora; the clerk announced the approval otherwise by voice vote.

Why it matters: routine ratifications and letters of support authorize county spending and signal county backing for regional economic planning that will be submitted to the EDA by a June 30 deadline.

The consent package also recorded routine personnel items including employments and resignations. The board set its next meeting for Thursday, May 15 at 10 a.m.
