At the March 13 board meeting the Friends of the Library reported combined bookshop revenue of $574 in January and $478 in February, exceeding a $500 monthly goal when averaged across the two months. The Friends said they will not hold a large spring sale this year; instead they plan smaller pop-up sales at events, including a sampling sale at a concert on March 22 and a presence at the Illuminate Vermont event in April. The Friends plan a larger sale in September.
The foundation reported a donor thank-you event scheduled for April 11 and said it is planning a spring fundraising appeal. The foundation and staff discussed pausing pursuit of a grant for “the Hangout” until staff can work with youth to confirm needs; foundation members said they had spoken with staff and Kelly (children’s library staff) about how kids use the Hangout and computers.
Separately, the foundation will support a roughly $8,000 one-year initiative intended for publicity and program support; board members confirmed the foundation had allocated that sum and staff said it would be used for a short-term investment in publicity and related activities.
No formal board votes were taken on these updates; the reports were informational and the board thanked volunteers and staff for the activity and planning.
