County staff plan box‑culvert repair to reopen road to Ogles Cemetery; bridge closure affects residents and school bus routing

Staff and others discussed a washout and blocked culvert that limit access to Ogles Cemetery and nearby homes, and described a plan to install box culverts to make the road more resilient.

A staff speaker said the site “has 6 rolls of 36 inch tiles in it” and that the culvert often clogs with sticks and leaves, at times washing the top off the road. He told the group: “We found us some, box culverts. They're reasonably priced…maybe we can fix that road where it won't wash off every time it rains.” He said the job will require a crane to place the culverts.

The group discussed access during construction. One staff member noted the bridge in the area is closed and that the school bus will not go into the area: “They are they're already taking their kids out to the road. The school bus won't go back there.” Participants estimated “5 different houses” or “5 or 6 families” live off the affected spur and urged timing the work for a dry spell. A potential temporary one‑lane crossing using tiles removed from elsewhere was mentioned: “We might could take some of those tiles that we pulled out and just set them right beside what we got and put 1 lane across it maybe.”

Speakers discussed alternate access through private property (a route across land owned by a Mr. Clyde Curley) but said reopening that route would require permission and time — possibly “about 3 days.” Before any work, staff said they will need to line up a crane and coordinate with residents about temporary access during repairs.
