The Board of Hamilton County Commissioners voted May 8 to appoint Glenn Welling Jr. as the county’s representative to the Veterans Service Commission of Hamilton County.
Bill Berwinkel, who had served as a VSC commissioner and secretary, told the board he resigned from the Veterans Service Commission to resolve ethical concerns about serving simultaneously on Great Parks’ commission and the VSC. Berwinkel described accomplishments during his VSC tenure, including governance reforms and outreach work to identify veterans countywide.
Commissioner Summer O'Dimmas introduced the appointment and said Welling had been reviewed by commissioners; the board received Welling’s application and résumé. Glenn Welling Jr. described his background, including military service and work at Xavier University directing the Veteran and Military Family Center. "I’m honored and humbled to be here, and for this opportunity," Welling said after his selection.
The board moved and approved the resolution appointing Glenn Welling Jr.; the clerk recorded the three commissioners voting in favor.
What’s next: The county will record the appointment and Welling will take the seat on the Veterans Service Commission to participate in VSC activities and outreach.
