Templeton CPC approves minutes, reviews project and finance updates

The committee, meeting with a quorum, voted to accept the minutes and later voted to authorize the chairperson to sign the minutes in the clerk’s absence. The motions were made and seconded on the floor and approved by voice vote; no roll-call tally was recorded in the transcript.
Committee members discussed the committee’s revenue and project accounts. The committee reported $154,000 in investment income that was realized when investments were cashed to pay for the Baldwinville Elementary School rehabilitation project. The chairperson said the finance summary is available to members and noted that the town currently has an open accountant position; members said the vacancy could affect report access and timing until a new hire is made.
On project status, the committee reported several active and anticipated items. The Boynton Library has engaged architects and expects to put bid documents for interior renovation work out to bid in early June. The Stonebridge projects are slated to appear on an upcoming ballot. Work at Baldwinville Elementary (referenced in the meeting as the Baldwinville Elementary School rehab) is under way and funded in part by realized investment proceeds. The committee said Stonebridge-related items and the library design work use the same architects for some scopes of work.
The committee discussed ongoing maintenance and closeouts: a tennis-court procurement is awaiting an incoming invoice before that account can be closed; an Energy Management Building account shows a remaining balance of $801 to be invoiced; and at the Grange members said remaining work includes finishing drapes and completing an inspection of a lift once a staff member returns. First Church renovation work remains pending until a building permit is pulled.
Members said the Houghton Park playground equipment is scheduled to be installed beginning May 15, with installation expected to take roughly four to five days, weather permitting. The committee noted that some projects funded by CPC must be built out by June 30 and that staff are tracking those deadlines.
The committee did not adopt new funding decisions at the meeting; most of the hour was spent on status updates, scheduling and routine administrative approvals. The next regular meeting is scheduled for June 12 at 7 p.m.
