Separately, during a second-reading discussion of a related emergency appropriation, city staff described progress on a stand-by generator and enclosures for the water treatment plant. The city has procured the generator set and related housing; Allied has been engaged to remove old tanks and Vaughn Industries is lined up for installation work. Officials said Allied would begin tank removal the week of the 19th, and Vaughn is planning to set and commission the genset in the fall (September–October) once conduit, backfill and electrical work are complete.
City staff said an initial public bid solicitation produced no acceptable bids for some portions of the work, prompting the city to act as construction manager and parcel the work across contractors. The timeline depends on site conditions; staff cautioned that unforeseen excavation or piping issues could change cost and schedule estimates.
Council approved the Arcadis contract and appropriate funding and heard the generator timeline; no additional ordinance amendments were made at the meeting beyond the appropriations and authorizations adopted on first and third readings.
