Lake County seeks roughly $4.45 million in IDOC funding and renewals for problem-solving courts

The presentation stated this grant is advanced funding and requires no local match.
A second renewal is an Indiana Supreme Court Office of Support Services grant to support three problem-solving courts for fiscal year 2026, requesting roughly $135,000. Staff said those funds would pay for one drug court case manager, two part-time peer recovery specialists, travel and training, participant milestones and transportation, and chemical testing supplies for compliance monitoring. This, too, was presented as an advanced grant with no local match.
The third requested renewal is a SAFE (Supporting Addiction-Free Environments) grant for about $32,003 to purchase drug-screening supplies and support veterans programs.
Staff recommended the council approve all three renewal applications. No formal roll call or final approval was recorded in the transcript; staff described payment schedules for the grants (advance payments and monthly payment schedules for some awards) and answered procedural questions about cash-flow and advance-payment timing.
