District officials told the board May 8 they received no bids for several solicitations and plan to reissue or pursue alternate procurement methods.
Superintendent Mark Lohrey said the district initially received no bidders for the school apparel and athletic/in-game uniform solicitations; the apparel bid was reissued with a shortened turnaround in hopes of an apparent low bidder being available for the next board meeting. He also reported no bids were received for a plow-truck solicitation; staff said they will pull that item from next week's agenda, directly solicit vendors and repost the bid. A board member suggested exploring state bid contracts for vehicles, noting prior use by other municipal departments could yield better pricing.
For other bids with apparent bidders, Lohrey said the plumbing/HVAC supplies bid had an apparent low bidder from Buffalo and on-call plumbing services (Swanson) was recommended, with prior emergency use noted. Datamation was noted as the apparent low bidder for print and newsletter distribution. The district awarded the supplemental classroom books bid to a local vendor (Book Corner on Main Street) as the apparent low bidder.
Officials said the procurement issues are being handled administratively and that staff aim to secure equipment and supplies in time for operational needs. No formal bid awards were voted on during the meeting; staff will bring recommended apparent low bidders or reissued solicitations to a future board meeting for formal action.
