Under the approved adjustment, the fee for spayed or neutered dogs will increase from $6.50 to $7.50; unaltered dogs will increase from $9 to $10; and the first senior dog license (for residents qualifying for senior discounts) will increase from $2 to $3. The board said the change is intended to help offset rising administrative costs for dog licensing, including tags, paper, envelopes and postage.
Selectboard discussion noted that the RSA governing municipal license adjustments allows increases up to $1 and that Woodstock’s fee structure had not been updated since approximately 1977, according to the meeting exchange. The motion to adopt the RSA (noted in the transcript as RSA 66:39) and increase fees passed in the meeting; no voter roll-call was included in the public transcript.
The board asked staff to implement the new fee schedule for licenses issued on or after Jan. 1, 2026 and to update public information accordingly.
