Commission schedules site visits and asks city solicitor to follow up on Robertson and community garden encroachments

WOBURN, Sept. 11, 2025 — During the meeting the Woburn Conservation Commission discussed two encroachment matters identified on recent site visits: an encroachment at Robertson and an emerging dispute at the community gardens. Commissioners asked staff to notify the city solicitor and pursue formal follow up.
A commissioner who visited Robertson reported there is an encroachment and asked for next steps. The commission discussed whether the city solicitor should send a formal letter to the property owner and agreed staff should bring the matter to the solicitor. The commissioner said he planned to meet with the solicitor later in September to hand over the information and request action; staff will report the solicitor’s response at the Sept. 25 meeting.
Separately, the commission said the community gardens encroachment is becoming contentious and said a meeting with the city solicitor, relevant staff and commission members is likely before the next public meeting to seek progress.
What’s next: Staff will meet the city solicitor and report back to the commission at its next meeting, and the commission will revisit both encroachment matters and any solicitor guidance.
