Volusia special investigations reports large narcotics seizures, lauds county crime center support

Eric Keegan, commander of the special investigations section, reported countywide narcotics enforcement figures and described the role of the Volusia County Crime Center in recent operations.
“We've, year to date, we have, executed 33 search warrants, made 75 felony arrests, 16 misdemeanor,” Keegan said, and he listed narcotics seizures including 13.5 kilograms of cocaine, about 126 pounds of cannabis, roughly a quarter kilogram of fentanyl and 14 kilograms of methamphetamine. Keegan estimated the narcotics' aggregate street value at more than $1 million and highlighted associated firearms recoveries and seized funds.
Keegan also praised the Blush County (county) Crime Center for rapid analytical support during active incidents and routine investigations, saying license-plate-reader and camera-analysis work has led to quick identification of suspects for partner agencies. He described analysts placing suspect vehicles on hot lists and providing near-real-time leads during a Port Orange active-shooter incident and a bank-robbery identification for Daytona Beach Police Department.
The commander emphasized that narcotics investigations are ongoing and that the unit's year-to-date production represents arrests, search warrants and interagency support across Volusia County. No new programs or budget approvals were taken at the CompStat meeting; the presentation was an operational summary.
