Muskegon Public Library Board approves director job posting, forms search committee and names interim director

The Muskegon Public Library Board on May 7 approved a national job posting and recruitment brochure for its search for a new library director, authorized updates to the director job description, formed a search committee and appointed Samantha Quayle as interim library director after a closed-session discussion.

Board members said the recruitment materials and outreach plan are intended to attract “top talent” and to have a new director in place in time to participate in the city budget process later this summer. Kate, human resources staff, told the board the posting is designed to “hit the high points” of qualifications, salary range and responsibilities and that the materials — including a visual recruitment brochure and a virtual tour link — will be posted through the city’s NeoGov applicant-tracking system and broadcast to professional channels such as the American Library Association and the Wisconsin Library Association.
