Forrest said the new public works location at 1608 Texas Street opened with a July 2024 grand opening and includes secured storage for equipment, outdoor fenced areas for trucks and materials and office space for daily operations. He described sidewalk pours on Fourth, Fifth and Lake streets and said 80 tons of hot mix was used at Park Magnus to rehabilitate roads.
Forrest described drainage work, including removing and restoring drainage at Reagan Street, unclogging drainage ditches, reestablishing ditch grades and repairing sinkholes. He said the department purchased a concrete breaker and a grapple to assist street and drainage crews and is in the process of buying a street sweeper.
Forrest also praised the summer youth program's help with litter pickup and emphasized ongoing training for employees in road maintenance and equipment safety. He framed the facility move and equipment investments as efforts to improve service reliability and response to infrastructure needs.
