The Board of Education voted 7–0 on third reading to adopt revisions to policy JCC (student conduct), adding references to restorative practices and updating student-conduct and discipline language.
Grace Wilson, the district’s senior specialist for legislation and policy, presented the policy update and noted staff requested changes to incorporate restorative practices and clarification of conduct and discipline procedures. Board member Michelle Hunt moved to adopt the policy; the motion was seconded and the board approved the policy unanimously.
Wilson said the changes were developed with community advisory committee input and staff review. Board members thanked the community advisory committee for its work; one member noted the committee’s careful deliberations and inclusive process during a prior review meeting.
The policy will be edited for style and format prior to final distribution, per the board’s adoption motion.
