LaSalle County enters intergovernmental agreement with Mendota for 2025 cape-seal work

The LaSalle County Board approved a resolution on May 8 to enter an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) with the city of Mendota to include city streets in the county's 2025 cape-seal program.
County staff introduced the resolution citing the Intergovernmental Cooperation Act (5 ILCS 220/1) as authority for local governments to combine services and share costs. Aaron Goughman Green, representing the city of Mendota, told the board Mendota asked to include portions of North 202nd Street that change jurisdiction between township and city, and that Mendota's share of the work is roughly $13,000, plus an $800 engineering fee charged by the county.
The resolution authorizes the county to perform the cape-seal work on streets within Mendota and directs the city to appropriate and reimburse the county for its portion of the work and engineering. The motion was made by Mister Gadsden and seconded by Mister Roberts; the board approved the resolution by roll call vote.
County staff and the city will complete the engineering and construction coordination under the terms of the IGA. The board's action authorizes the chairman to execute the agreement and obligates the city to reimburse the county for the specified costs.
