The Deerfield Beach City Commission approved an award of Invitation to Bid (ITB) 25-014 to Southern Arbor Services Inc. for citywide tree trimming, removal and maintenance services, authorizing a three-year contract with two one-year renewal options and an annual amount not to exceed $450,000.
Commissioner Shanetsky, who pulled the consent item for brief comment, encouraged Deerfield Beach–based firms to compete for city contracts and noted Southern Arbor Services is based in Lighthouse Point; commissioners then approved the award by roll call with all five members voting yes.
The contract was presented as a lowest responsive and responsible bidder award; staff said the contract term and renewal options are intended to provide continuity for routine and emergency tree work across the city. The city manager will administer the contract and authorize work up to the annual cap.
