The Imperial City Council approved reorganization and job‑allocation changes designed to address staffing needs in Public Services and Community Development.
Staff requested deletion of one Public Services foreman position and the addition of an Engineering Technician/Inspector in Community Development, plus the creation and allocation of one Public Services Supervisor position. The new supervisor position will be an unrepresented MSPC position and the Engineering Technician/Inspector will support building inspection and code enforcement work, staff said.
“Due to evolving staffing requirements, we're requesting to update our position allocations to delete 1 public services foreman position… and to add 1 engineering technician inspector position… and to add 1 full time allocation for public services supervisor,” the presenter said. Staff told the council the proposed restructuring will result in salary savings for the current fiscal year and had been discussed with affected department directors.
A councilmember expressed lingering concerns about job descriptions aligning to operational needs, but staff said directors had agreed the changes met departmental requirements. The council approved the allocation and job‑description changes by motion and roll call.
