Public Works staff said the county’s spray-in patcher had not produced durable results and that the hot-mix unit would enable square-cut pothole repairs and pipe-crossing fixes that can be completed in-house.
Staff presented a low quote from Reynolds Warren for roughly $45,399.48 and said other quotes were higher. Commissioners added a stipulation to pursue trading in the existing spray-in patcher to offset cost; staff was asked to check trade-in or resale options and to return with those figures. Public Works described potential operational savings if the county can complete multiple pipe crossings in a season rather than contracting the work externally.
