Jamie Charlton, finance director, told commissioners on May 5 that county finances were steady and highlighted a new recreation account opened at United Bank with roughly $10,000 deposited in its first month. Charlton also reported that the county’s general fund had strong interest earnings and that local government investment-pool (LGIP) returns had improved.
Charlton provided breakdowns for SPLOST and t-SPLOST commitments: the SPLOST balance available for spending was reported at about $768,000 and the t-SPLOST balance about $464,000 as of the May statement. He noted two outstanding SPLOST commitments: jail plumbing (work by Max Ehren expected to proceed toward a June 1 completion target) and public-works court orders (about half of a $75,000 allotment reported as spent). The board received the financial report and asked staff to continue monitoring receipts and commitments ahead of upcoming budget and project decisions.
