Meriwether County commissioners voted May 5 to issue requests for proposals (RFPs) for a courthouse roof replacement and for remediation/renovation of the third-floor courtroom, following a facilities assessment by EMC Engineering Services LLC. Staff said EMC completed the assessment and will provide a proposed fee to prepare the RFPs and, if authorized later, manage the project; staff recommended legal review before advertising.
Commissioners approved using SPLOST or general-fund reserves to pay for the projects if bids align with available funding. Staff also proposed advertising the RFPs for roughly two months with on-site visits for interested bidders. The board approved the staff recommendation to move forward with RFP preparation and directed staff to return with EMC’s fee proposal and the finalized RFP language for legal review before formal advertisement.
