Fort Atkinson council issues proclamations honoring first responders, clerks, building safety and historic preservation

At its May 6 meeting the Fort Atkinson City Council approved proclamations honoring EMS and firefighters, municipal clerks, police officers and building-safety observances, and presented awards for historic preservation and council service.
The Fort Atkinson City Council on May 6 approved multiple proclamations recognizing local public-service weeks and presented awards to residents and staff.
Museum director Marilee presented the Historic Preservation Commission’s inaugural 2025 Historic Preservation Award to Greg and Anna Albert for restoration work on the Morrison Horn House at 323 Merchants Avenue; the commission recognized the Alberts’ porch restoration for maintaining the home’s architectural and historic integrity.
The council also approved proclamations recognizing National EMS Week (May 18–24, 2025) and International Firefighters Day (May 4, 2025). Manager Hausman and staff noted the city’s full-time fire and EMS department and thanked local responders; Captain Mike Vorpahl was present to receive the proclamation on behalf of EMS staff and Chief Bruce Peterson accepted for the fire department.
Council approved a proclamation recognizing Professional Municipal Clerks Week (May 4–10, 2025) and honored municipal clerk Michelle Ebert and staff members Courtney Toome, Karen Rose and Lance Lembits. The council likewise approved a proclamation recognizing National Police Week (May 11–17, 2025) and Peace Officers Memorial Day (May 15, 2025).
Finally, Manager Hausman presented an engraved gavel to David Lesko in recognition of his service as city council president from April 2024 to April 2025 and thanked him for work on development agreements, labor contracts and other items.
