The Fort Atkinson City Council on May 6 authorized staff to accept a proposal from Mister Plumber for Phase 2 of the Rock River Park Aquatic Center bathhouse improvements, including shower fixture and water-heater replacement, at a cost not to exceed $23,508.84.
Parks and Recreation Director Ben Dayton told the council this project follows an earlier April approval for a pump strainer and basket for the pool mechanicals. Dayton said staff solicited quotes from three plumbers; two original quotes exceeded the remaining budget, but after adjustments the lowest responsive quote from Mister Plumber reduced costs to $23,508.84, leaving the project under budget by $766.16. Dayton outlined the scope as replacement of shower heads, a water heater (BAC EZ 8199n model cited in the packet) and grouping fixtures (two 3-group shower fixtures and four single-head fixtures).
Dayton said the project is funded through 2024–25 borrowed funds. A council member praised the staff for pivoting to a local contractor and saving money. The motion to accept the proposal carried by voice vote.
