The Morris Township Board of Adjustment on April 28 approved a variance allowing Joseph and Meg Gall to build an in-ground pool with a rear-yard setback of 20.44 feet where 25 feet is required.
Attorney Corey Gaul, representing the applicants, told the board the rear of the Gall property abuts roughly 200 feet of township-owned forest and a noise barrier associated with Route 287, so no private rear neighbor would be directly affected. "The rear of the property is forest owned by the township," Gaul said during his presentation.
Town engineering staff notified the board of two items from the zoning denial letter that the applicants must still satisfy: apply for and obtain a grading permit (with drainage design and calculations) and revise the site plan to show the pool area in the zoning table and update coverage numbers. The applicants confirmed they will provide the required plan revisions and comply with engineering review before final permits are issued.
Board members voted to approve the variance with the engineering and plan-submission conditions carried forward from the zoning review. The approval was recorded by roll call.
